How to add a custom favicon to Blogspot

The favicon is that little icon appearing in the Address field of your browser, just before the address of the site you're visiting.
The default Blogspot favicon if a small white B on orange background.

Login into your account, go to Layout, then Edit Html.
Find the <head> tag and add this text just after it.
<!-- Custom favicon -->
<link href='http://www.freewebs.com/queensoft/iconqs.ico' rel='shortcut icon' type='image/x-icon'/>
<link href='http://www.freewebs.com/queensoft/iconqs.png' rel='icon' type='image/png'/>
Of course, you'll have to alter the address of the two files (ICO and PNG). As before, you can host the images on your hosting account or on a free hosting site that allows hotlinking.
Now, you have to create the actual ICO and PNG files.
The image resolution is 16 x 16 pixels (yeah, it's really small, but it can look cool).
PNG file is easy, you can basically create it with any decent graphics program.
GIMP is a very good freeware graphics software.
Microangelo is a very good ICO creation suite, but it's a commercial piece of software.
Adsen FavIcon is a simple favicon freeware creator.
